Mastermind of Bihar hooch tragedy held in Delhi

New Delhi, December 31 (ANI): Delhi Crime Branch arrested Ram Babu Mahto, the alleged mastermind of the recent spurious liquor consumption tragedy in Saran, Bihar. Delhi Police arrested the accused from Dwarka, Delhi on December 31. As per the reports, around 80 people have died in connection with the consumption of spurious liquor in Saran, Bihar. Ram Babu Mahto is one of the most wanted accused in two cases registered at PS Mashrak, and PS Isuapur of Saran district. Appropriate legal action is being taken, informed Delhi Police Crime Branch. The sale and consumption of alcohol were banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government in April 2016. Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar spoke with the media on the arrest and said, “Government is keeping a close watch. We have been investigating this case right after the incident took place. Majority of people are in favour of liquor ban. I have ordered to take strict actions against the accused.”
