For close to 60 years, Indian Railways ensure Puri Rath Yatra remains on track

Puri (Odisha), May 18 (ANI): A team of the Mechanical department of East Coast Railway (ECoR) posted at Odisha’s Puri is tasked with keeping Lord Jagannath’s chariot in the right direction to keep the procession on the desired route. This team of 40 devoted staff accompanies the chariots with equipment to assist in removing any obstacle from their forward path every year.
They are also responsible for the placement and positioning of the three chariots and maintaining the distance during the journey. They inspect and do positioning, and placement, keeping the proper gap between the chariots and their alignment.
