Record tourism, infrastructure boost: Kashmir, four years after abrogation of Article 370

New Delhi, Aug 05 (ANI): In 2019, HM Amit Shah moved resolution revoking Article 370 from J&K in Rajya Sabha on August 05. Soon after it got tabled, the resolution was passed and PM Modi-led Centre scrapped controversial Article 370 of Constitution. The article gave special status to J&K and barred people from the rest of India from buying land in the state. In a historic feat, the resolution brought an end to special status granted to J&K under Article 370 of Indian Constitution. The Centre also introduced Jammu and Kashmir Re-organisation Bill and declared J&K as a Union Territory. Under the J&K Re-organisation Bill, Ladakh was taken out of the state and became a UT without legislature. 4 years after the abrogation, Centre’s strategy of prioritising development has begun showing results on the ground. In the path of development, the state has witnessed the expenditure of the highest-ever funds in the financial year 2022-23. To attract investment, Centre, UT admin focused on reforms such as ease of doing business, land and capital provisions. Centre has also generated employment for 2,63,595 people in J&K under different schemes in financial year 2022-23. In tourism as well, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a significant rise after abrogation of Article 370.
