'Young teachers imperative for social progress'

Male (Maldives) Oct 05: President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that young teachers mindful of modern technological advancements are imperative for the advancement of the society.
He made the statement in his message this morning on the occasion of World Teachers' Day.
This year, World Teachers' Day is celebrated with the theme, 'Young Teachers: The future of the Profession.' Speaking on the theme, President Solih highlighted that it shows the role and responsibilities of youth in the future of the profession, and explores the need for teachers mindful of modern technological advancements in teaching.
Acknowledging that the country's teacher population currently employs many youths, the President said that the future of the country's education system looks bright, as a large number of young people join the profession every year. He further expressed his utmost gratitude to the contributions of teachers in nation-building and wished them the best on the occasion. He also extended his good wishes to those in the profession of training the future generations of teachers.
Noting that the administration's education policy was not limited to just providing primary education, the President said that it seeks to build a generation of students who are educated and healthy, and youth who are responsible, creative and productive. He further urged all teachers and educational institutions to work towards these goals.
