Seoul [South Korea], May 29: After gaining attention for his role in "The Ghost of Happiness ," Luong The Thanh continues his reunion with audiences in the project "Mesdames of Beauty," scheduled to be released on June 19th. This film is inspired by a true story in Saigon in the 1960s and features a cast including Thanh Hang, Hong Anh , and Khane Nguyen.
In The Muses of Beauty , Luong The Thanh plays Ba Dung, a man caught between his powerful wife and his seductive mistress. The actor said he has always wanted to step out of his comfort zone and challenge himself with more edgy roles.
"For over 20 years, audiences have been familiar with my image as a gentle and kind person. Therefore, I currently crave roles with more complex inner lives to showcase my acting abilities," he expressed. According to Luong The Thanh, Ba Dung is a character with few lines but a lot of psychological struggle. Most of his emotions must be expressed through his eyes and inner expressions.
Interestingly, many people believe that this character resembles the actor's role in "The Ghost of Happiness " not only in the name but also in the circumstances of being caught in a love triangle. According to Thúy Diễm's husband, this coincidence is so interesting that "I've never experienced anything like it in my entire career."
Luong The Thanh further shared: "However, these two characters also have many completely different points, in terms of the period they lived in, their personalities, and the circumstances in the film. I believe that with Messidames Thanh Sac's portrayal of Ba Dung, after watching, people will feel more sympathy and empathy."
The actor also readily admitted that acting with Thanh Hằng was more difficult and stressful than acting with Hồng Ánh. Explaining this, Lương Thế Thanh recounted that he and his senior colleague had previously collaborated on the theater stage and acted together in the film " Mùi ngo gai" (The Scent of Coriander) , so they had a mutual understanding of each other's working styles.
As for Thanh Hang, since it was their first time working together, the male artist didn't fully understand his co-star's personality and desires. Initially, Thuy Diem's husband felt pressured, but he gradually connected with his co-star, making filming scenes much easier.
"In the film, we have quite a few romantic and conflict scenes, and the psychological intensity is also quite high. So I had to figure out how to help the two of us understand each other. I spent time on set talking and chatting to help us both feel comfortable working together. It was difficult at first because we weren't used to the rhythm, but gradually, as we understood each other better, everything went more smoothly," he shared.
Regarding the romantic scenes, Luong The Thanh said that both he and Thanh Hang are married, but as professional actors, they understand that this is the nature of the job. The 8X actor frankly shared his perspective on the profession: "We do it for the role, for this project. As actors, I accept the director's requirements, so when performing romantic scenes, we feel pressure, but it's not to the point where we can't find common ground."
When filming intimate scenes with female actresses, Luong The Thanh revealed that he had asked his wife for permission. His and Thuy Diem's principle has always been to share any script they receive with each other. Thanks to this, they find a suitable way to act with the support and input of their life partner.
"When I work, I give it my all. Once I've accepted a role, I do everything I can to make the character the best it can be, so that the director feels proud to have invited me to that project. I almost always work with the director and producer on the script to find the best approach to make the job easier. This has always been my way of working," he further revealed.
