Al Mudahka appointed as Vice President of Gulf Chess Federation

Doha [Qatar], May 12: Qatar Chess Association President Mohammed Al Mudahka has been appointed as Vice President of Gulf Chess Federation for 2026-27 term in accordance with established procedures and regulations, and based on the minutes of the General Assembly meeting held last December.
The Gulf Chess Federation also discussed updates regarding the preparation of the unified statutes for Gulf sports federations. This took place during the first meeting, held remotely via video conference.
The Gulf Chess Federation also approved the organization of the 2026 Gulf Individual Junior Classic Championship for both males and females, to be held in the Emirate of Ajman from July 3 to 9, as part of its plans to develop age-group categories and allocate prizes for the winners.
In a statement, the Gulf Chess Federation emphasized that the timing of the championship coincides with the end of the academic year in the GCC countries, which will enhance participation and raise the level of competition among players.
Ahmed Al Raisi, President of the Gulf Chess Federation, welcomed the members of the Board of Directors at the start of the current 2026-2027 session, expressing his pleasure at this gathering of a select group of experts and professionals, which will contribute to the advancement of chess in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
He also emphasized the importance of the upcoming phase, which requires intensified teamwork and a focus on developing high-quality programs and initiatives to enhance the standing of chess in the Gulf at both the regional and international levels.
After a quorum of seven members was reached, the Secretary General chaired the meeting to discuss the agenda items, reviewing several strategic topics related to the development of the game across the GCC countries.
The meeting also addressed a proposal to organize another Gulf championship in November in Oman, following coordination and follow-up with the relevant authorities to finalize the necessary organizational procedures.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the council recommended a number of executive measures, most notably the completion of the presentation of the amended basic system and details of the junior championship, and the formation of the union's standing committees for the current session, to ensure raising the efficiency of institutional work and achieving the union's strategic goals.
